West Chicago, IL – March 3 – DPWN Publishing announces that Dr. Ingryd Lorenzana, will be a contributing author to their next publication, “Overcoming Mediocrity Volume III-Strong Women”. The publication is the third volume in a series of highly successful motivational books filled with personal, inspirational stories from women who have created significance and impact in their personal and professional lives.
At the age of 10, Dr. Lorenzana emigrated from Bogota, Colombia to the United States. Although a high-achieving student, she struggled with reading, which led her to believe that it was due to English being her second language. Her determination to be the first in her family to graduate from college earned her a B.S. from Mundelein College but it was perseverance and vision therapy that got her a Doctorate from the Illinois College of Optometry.
The diagnosis and treatment of convergence insufficiency was pivotal to her success in optometry school and proved to be the cause for her lifelong reading struggles. It was then that, Dr. Lorenzana chose the specialty of Vision Learning Disabilities as the focus of her life work and went on to complete a Residency in Pediatrics – Binocular Vision and Perception at the Illinois Eye Institute.
In 2003, Dr. Lorenzana established Advanced Vision Center where she serves as Director for Pediatric and Adult Specialty Optometric Services. In 2012, she founded the Vision and Sensory Integration Institute with the mission to improve the quality of life and to achieve maximum potential for those struggling with vision problems. Her exclusive ground breaking neuroplasticity - sensory integrative treatment protocol incorporates the latest technology in the rewiring of visual neural pathways in treatment of Vision Learning Disabilities and/or rehabilitate visual function loss due to brain injury, trauma, concussion or stroke.
A highly sought after, international speaker, Dr. Lorenzana was named "3D Eye Doctor Of The Year" from Hollywood’s 3D International and Advanced Media Society and the 2014 Influential Women in Business Award from the Daily Herald. However, she considers her greatest accolade to be the responsibility of making a difference in every patient’s life.
